Location: Porgy & Bess Der aus Brasilien stammende, dreiundvierzigjährige Gitarrist, Sänger und Komponist, für den „Musik machen viel mehr bedeutet als das bloße Spielen der richtigen Noten'“ (Eigendefinition), hat in den letzten fünfzehn Jahren durch das Einbringen seiner brasilianischen Musik-Idioms nicht nur die Vielfältigkeit unserer Jazzszene bereichert, sondern auch mit seinen Projekten der letzten Monate – einem Konzert, gemeinsam mit Wolfgang Muthspiel im Wiener Konzerthaus, einem Auftritt mit eigenem Ensemble in der Staatsoper, durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Exponenten der authentischen Wiener Volksmusik und als Mitglied des Vienna Art Orchestra – der improvisierten Musik in Österreich wesentliche Impulse gegeben. (Jurybegründung, Hans Koller Preis / Musiker des Jahres 2003) Der 1960 in Passo Fundo/Rio Grande do Sul geborene Gitarrist, Sänger, Perkussionist und Komponist Alegre Corrêa entschied sich bereits mit 13 Jahren für die Musik. Er arbeitete u.a. mit Luis Carlos Borges, Renato Borghetti, José Feliciano, Joe Zawinul, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Mathias Rüegg, Wolfgang Puschnig, Roland Neuwirth, Dhafher Yossef, Karl Hodina, Sandra Pires, Maria Joao, Bertl Mayer, Marcelo Onofri, Mark Murphy, Hermeto Pascoal und war Mitglied des Vienna Art Orchestra und des Joe Zawinul Syndicate. 1993 gründete er das Alegre Corrêa Sextett. Location: Universität für angewandte Kunst „mimu at nite“ - »experimental folk« a solo performance with voice, accordeon, violin and laptop. The accordeon is played minimalistically, either rhythmically or droning - according to the certain song, the voice is layered over that solid ground in a very flexible way. the vocals are very narrative, the stories are clothed in metaphoric constructions of a flowery language. The laptop provides distinct atmospherical components such as field recordings of varying places (such as woods, cities) or incidents (fighting dogs, car accidents), or samples of old movies, that correlate to the context. The performance has it's full impact, when done in enviroments way off the usual concert-spaces, totally unplugged, indoor and outdoor, using the natural acoustics of the distinct area where it takes place. the soundscapes get transmitted to several solar-rechargeable and energy-independent radios that are spread in the area and the rest is done by the natural and authentic sound and power of instrument and voice. preferably at night, in the dark, under bridges, arches, in empty rooms, churches, waiting rooms at trainstations, farmhouses and stairways. a tour de moon, a walk through city and auditive enviroments. -- http://www.myspace.com/listentomimu
